ENTRY LEVEL POSITIONS

Entry level positions are a great way to get started with the Department of Recreational Sports. Although previous experience in related fields is recommended, it is not required for employment. All entry level positions require student employees to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. For students that do not already posess these certifications, training will be provided by the deparment upon being hired.
Intramural Sports Official - Minneapolis and St. Paul

Job Description
The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill the Intramural Sports Official position. This position was created to benefit the program as well as provide leadership opportunities for student employees. The Intramural Sports Official position will require skills including, but not limited to:

  • Strive to follow the Intramural mission, maintain a positive, cooperative, customer service oriented attitude and contribute to the success of the program.
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Gain a consistent knowledge base of the Intramural Sports Program and the specific goals of each sport program offered.
  • Act assertive, providing problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Behave in a professional manner when on duty or participating in the Intramural Program.
  • Report directly to the Intramural Supervisor and will assist the Intramural Sports Senior Supervisor with the administration of the Intramural Sports Program.

Job Requirements
All student employees are required to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. For students that do not already possess these certifications, training will be provided by the department upon being hired. Other requirements related to the position include:

  • Currently enrolled as a student at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities.
  • Work at scheduled times and/or find an appropriate substitute when necessary.
  • Attend all meetings scheduled by the Intramural Senior Supervisor.
  • Develop a good relationship with the participants.
  • Communicate with participants, fellow employees and the Intramural Senior Supervisor in a professional manner to maintain a positive and fun working environment.
  • Assist with the equipment set up and tear down during work shifts.
  • Report all injuries, vandalism, equipment needs, or any problems to the Intramural Senior Supervisor or Supervisor on duty.

Intramural Office Assistant - Minneapolis

Job Description
The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill the Intramural Office Assistant position. This position was created to benefit the program as well as provide leadership opportunities for student employees. The Intramural Office Assistant position will require skills including, but not limited to:

  • Strong customer service and communications skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and with others.
  • Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office products)
  • Knowledge base of the entire Intramural Sports Program, rules for each individual sport, and the Intramural Handbook.
  • Report directly to the Intramural Program Assistant and will assist the Intramural Director and Coordinator with the administration of the Intramural Sports Program.

Job Requirements

  • Communicate with participants and fellow employees in a professional manner to maintain a positive and fun working environment.
  • Answer phones and questions about the Intramural Sports Programs.
  • Distribute and collect backpacks every morning/evening and process daily work.
  • Up-date league binders, postings, and rosters.
  • Complete and organize daily paperwork (scorecards, timecards, nightly schedules, record scores) for sport sites.
  • Act with the best interest of the Intramural Program and the Department of Recreational Sports at all times.
  • Behave in a professional manner when on duty or participating in the Intramural Program.
