ENTRY LEVEL POSITIONS

Entry level positions are a great way to get started with the Department of Recreational Sports. Although previous experience in related fields is recommended, it is not required for employment. All entry level positions require student employees to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. For students that do not already posess these certifications, training will be provided by the deparment upon being hired.
Office Assistant - Minneapolis

Job Description
The Office Assistant at the Minneapolis Aquatic Center is responsible for assisting the full time Aquatic Center staff in day to day functions.  The University of Minnesota Aquatic Center is an Olympic sized natatorium with 8 lanes and a diving well with two additional rec pools.  This position includes but is not limited to the following job duties:

  • Relaying messages both written and orally to full time Aquatic Staff Members.
  • Answering phone calls regarding pool schedules, events, fees, and other patron questions. 
  • Prepare emails and dictate as needed.
  • Distribute mail and other items to staff.
  • Perform other office tasks (fax, copies, etc.) or other duties as assigned by Aquatic Director or other full time Aquatic Staff.

Job Requirements
The desired office assistant should have a strong oral and written communication skills along with the following requirements:

  • Current enrollment as a full-time student at the University of Minnesota
  • Ability to work days, nights, weekends, and some early mornings (depending upon pool and event schedule).
  • Ability to lift and move bleachers along with some heavy lifting
