ENTRY LEVEL POSITIONS

Entry level positions are a great way to get started with the Department of Recreational Sports. Although previous experience in related fields is recommended, it is not required for employment. All entry level positions require student employees to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. For students that do not already posess these certifications, training will be provided by the deparment upon being hired.
Member Service Host (Front Desk) - Minneapolis

Job Description
The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill the Member Service Host position. The Member Service Host will assist in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to:

  • Member Service Hosts are responsible for the day to day operation of the front desk and insuring quality customer service to members and guests alike.  This includes providing member services, directing and answering questions, having common knowledge of facilities and programs offered, and keeping area clean and well organized.  The Member Service hosts report the Facility Supervisors.

Job Requirements
All student employees are required to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. For students that do not already possess these certifications, training will be provided by the department upon being hired. Other requirements related to the position include:

  • Competent understanding of member-management systems.
  • General knowledge of Department of Recreational Sports facilities and program offerings.
  • The set-up of various equipment
  • Knowledge computer and phone systems.
  • Competency in medical and weather related emergencies. 
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

Fieldhouse Monitor - Minneapolis

Job Description
The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill the Fieldhouse Monitor position. The Fieldhouse Monitor will assist in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to:

  • The Fieldhouse Monitor is responsible for opening and closing the area, the set up of all equipment, maintaining a clean environment throughout the entire area. The fieldhouse monitor reports the facility supervisor.

Equipment Room Attendant - Minneapolis

Job Description
The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill the Equipment Room Attendant position. The Equipment Room Attendant will assist in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to:

  • The Equipment Room attendants are responsible for rentals of equipment and lockers, handle merchandise purchases, court reservations, and maintaining clean towels for patrons. They report the facility supervisor.

Gym Monitor - Minneapolis

Job Description
The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill the Gym Monitor position. The Gym Monitor will assist in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to:

  • Gym Monitors are responsible for supervising activities in the North, South and Cooke Hall gyms. These includes the set up and break down of various equipment, enforcing of all Department of Rec Sports policies, assisting aerobic instructors  and maintaining the condition of each area. The Gym Monitors report the Facilities Supervisor.

Custodian - Minneapolis

Custodian will be responsible for sweeping/mopping Lower and Upper Fitness Center floors, clean all glass, wipe down ledges, clean all walls, clean under fitness equipment with the help of the fitness staff. Other custodial duties may be assigned.
