ENTRY LEVEL POSITIONS

Entry level positions are a great way to get started with the Department of Recreational Sports. Although previous experience in related fields is recommended, it is not required for employment. All entry level positions require student employees to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. For students that do not already posess these certifications, training will be provided by the deparment upon being hired.
Fitness Center Attendant

Job Description
The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill the Fitness Attendant position.  This position is directly supervised by the Fitness Coordinator, and will assist in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to:

  • Supervise and manage the daily operations of the University Recreation Center’s fitness centers. 
  • Enforce fitness center policies and procedures.  Adhere and execute the department’s risk management plan.  Maintain participation records. 
  • Educate participants on proper and safe exercise form.  Execute equipment orientations.

Job Requirements
All student employees are required to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. For students that do not already possess these certifications, training will be provided by the department upon being hired. Other requirements related to the position include:

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Minnesota.
  • Able to work about 10-12 hours per week
