ENTRY LEVEL POSITIONS
Entry level positions are a great way to get started with the Department of Recreational Sports. Although previous experience in related fields is recommended, it is not required for employment. All entry level positions require student employees to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. For students that do not already posess these certifications, training will be provided by the deparment upon being hired.
Office Assistant

Job Description
The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill the Sport Clubs Office Assistant position. The Office Assistant will assist in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to:

  • Provide initial customer service contact through telephone, email and walk-in reception for prospective members and act as an information resource to the University community
  • Maintain and develop Program and club marketing
  • Assist in working with student organizations
  • Manage data entry responsibilities for Sport Club Program
  • Manage club mailboxes with received mail and program memos
  • Develop basic understanding of the Vehicle Lease Program
  • Update bulletin boards and display cases in the Sport Clubs Office, Cooke Hall lobby and the University Recreation Center
  • Stock information centers with program information.
  • Engage in general office cleaning daily
  • Complete tasks as assigned by the Program Coordinator and Program Director for Sport Clubs

Job Requirements
All student employees are required to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. For students that do not already possess these certifications, training will be provided by the department upon being hired. Other requirements related to the position include:

  • Customer service experience and skills
  • Computer literacy – particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Exceptional organization
  • Ability to interact with people via phone, email, and face to face
  • Self directed in the sense they take initiative
  • Multi-task oriented
  • Current valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive large vehicles
  • 19 years of age or older
