INTERMEDIATE LEVEL POSITIONS

Intermediate level positions are a great way to take on more responsibility with the Department of Recreational Sports. A sound knowledge of departmental policies, programs and procedures combined with specific qualities and certifications may be required for employment. Intermediate level positions may also require a prospective employee to give specific examples of his/her qualifications for the position. All intermediate level positions require student employees to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. For students that do not already posess these certifications, training will be provided by the department upon being hired.
Vehicle Lease Assistant

Job Description
The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill the Sport Clubs Vehicle Lease Assistant position. The Vehicle Lease Assistant will assist in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to:

  • Provide initial customer service contact through telephone, email and walk-in reception for prospective members and act as an information resource to the University community
  • Assist in working with student organizations
  • Develop understanding of the Vehicle Lease Program
  • Develop cleaning and refueling system for the Department’s vans
  • Identify misuse or damage to the Department’s vans
  • Schedule van repair and maintenance with Fleet Services
  • Prepare vans for rentals, organizing rental schedule
  • Shuttling the Department’s vans to and from the University Avenue Ramp and Fleet Services
  • Complete tasks as assigned by the Program Coordinator and Program Manager for Sport Clubs

Job Requirements
All student employees are required to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. For students that do not already possess these certifications, training will be provided by the department upon being hired. Other requirements related to the position include:

  • Customer service experience and skills
  • Must be 19 years of age or older
  • Computer literacy – particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Exceptional organization
  • Ability to interact with people via phone, email, and face to face
  • Self directed in the sense they take initiative
  • Multi-task oriented
  • Current valid driver’s license
  • Ability to drive large vehicles
  • Must attend the Department of Recreational Sports Customer Service Training Program
  • Must attend the University of Minnesota 15-passenger Van Training
  • Must pass the Sport Club Program authorized driver certification
