ENTRY LEVEL POSITIONS

Entry level positions are a great way to get started with the Department of Recreational Sports. Although previous experience in related fields is recommended, it is not required for employment. All entry level positions require student employees to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. For students that do not already posess these certifications, training will be provided by the deparment upon being hired.
Member Service Representative (Front Desk) - St. Paul

Job Description
The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill the St. Paul Gymnasium Member Service Representative position. The St. Paul Gymnasium Member Service Representative will assist in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to:

  • Greeting all members and guests
  • Controlling admittance into the St. Paul Gymnasium by assimilating Club Management computer system information
  • Completing cash register operations that are not limited to, but include the sale of departmental memberships, program specific passes, facility locker rentals as well as sport equipment rentals
  • Responsible for opening/closing front desk procedures as well as cash reconciliation
  • Responsible for issuing and tracking daily locker and sport equipment rentals and their return as well as overseeing daily court reservation database
  • Responsible for answering front desk phone calls as well as member inquiries and questions
  • Assist with enforcing departmental policies and procedures as well as providing model customer service to all members and guests
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the St. Paul Gymnasium staff

Job Requirements
All student employees are required to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. For students that do not already possess these certifications, training will be provided by the department upon being hired. Other requirements related to the position include:

  • Currently enrolled as a student of the University of Minnesota Twin – Cities
  • Be willing to work a minimum of 10 hours per week
  • A desire to work in service oriented recreational sports setting is required
  • A background with experience in cash register operations, customer service, and excellent interpersonal skills is highly desired
