INTERMEDIATE LEVEL POSITIONS

Intermediate level positions are a great way to take on more responsibility with the Department of Recreational Sports. A sound knowledge of departmental policies, programs and procedures combined with specific qualities and certifications may be required for employment. Intermediate level positions may also require a prospective employee to give specific examples of his/her qualifications for the position. All intermediate level positions require student employees to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. For students that do not already posess these certifications, training will be provided by the department upon being hired.
Climbing Wall Attendant - St. Paul Gymnasium

Climbing Wall Attendants oversee the safety of participants and provide customer service while working at the St. Paul Gym Climbing wall. They also coordinate the checking in of climbers and enforcing climbing wall rules and policies. Previous belaying experience is required, and climbing and routesetting experience is preferred. It is also suggested that applicants be familiar with the St. Paul Gym Climbing Wall prior to applying.

Climbing Wall Supervisor - St. Paul Gymnasium

The Department of Recreational Sports is currently looking for a qualified individual to fill the Climbing Wall Supervisor position. This position will assist in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to:

  • Coordinate staffing the wall during open climbing and special event hours 
  • Oversee safety of climbing participants
  • Provide quality customer service
  • Checking in climbers
  • Enforce rules and policies at the wall

Job Requirements
All student employees are required to be trained in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens. For students that do not already possess these certifications, training will be provided by the department upon being hired. Other requirements related to the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Currently enrolled as a student of the University of Minnesota Twin – Cities
  • Ability to display previous climbing and belay experience
