Indoor Cycling Classes

Indoor Cycling classes offer high energy stationary bike workouts that enhance cardiovascular
endurance and muscular strength. Participants select personal intensity levels during the workout through body position and bike tension.
Heat

Description:
This advanced class combines spinning with plyometric interval training off the bike. It is a total-body workout that consists of a 60-minute cardio segment followed by core strengthening.

75 minutes

Intensity Level
Excel - For consistently active individuals who are thoroughly familiar with group fitness classes. Participants are expected to know the proper form and technique and understand how to reach and maintain their own intensity range. The instructor will emphasize advanced-level techniques and intensity that will challenge even the most experienced participant.

High Gear

Description:
High Gear is a 75-minute cardio challenge that attempts to push participants the extra mile and finishes with core body strengthening. Prior spin experience is recommended.

Exceed - For participants who are ready to bring the level of techniques and intensity to an individualized intensity range, while still emphasizing proper form. These classes are best suited for individuals who enjoy physical activity on a regular basis and possess group fitness experience.

Ride - N- Run

Description:
Challenge yourself with a 45 minute "The Ride" followed by a 30 minute running segment. This class focuses on increasing endurance and speed, and includes both interval and anaerobic training. All in a non-competitive environment. Get a glimpse of the multisport world! Class will start in the spin studio in Minneapolis and then move outdoors when weather permits. Run segment will move to the Fieldhouse during colder months.

Spin 101

Description:
This introductory class provides detailed information on bike set-up, pace, proper cadence and tension, and other key concepts to help participants get the best out of a spin class. Spin 101 is held the first six weeks of the semester.

Intensity Level
Energize - For participants who are new to classes in a group setting, are just starting an exercise program or would like to stick to the fitness basics. These classes focus on technique and intensity with emphasis on proper form.

Spin

Description:
Spin is the original all-level spin class that features a 45-minute cardio ride, including a warm-up and cool-down, followed by core body strengthening and stretching.

Everyone - For everyone from the beginner to the highly experienced exerciser. The emphasis is on providing a fun and effective workout for all fitness levels. The instructor incorporates basic to intermediate techniques with a focus on proper form and offers more challenging options for experienced participants.

Spin Express

Description:
This 45-minute all-level class includes warm-up, cardio, cool-down and stretching. Spin Express is designed to be an efficient workout similar to the original Spin class.

The Ride (60,75, and 90)

Description:
The Ride
While it would be nice to bike outdoors year-round, Minnesotans know that this is near impossible with harsh winter weather conditions. This class mimicks and outdoor riding experiencing, combining endurance, interval, and cadence control to increase cardiovascular capacity. Maintain year-round endurance, especially during the off-season!

The Ride (60/75/90)
This is a unique, one time class that is offered occasionally throughout the semester. The class format is the same, with the exception that there is no core strengthening component in The Ride 60/75/90 - only a warm-up, riding, and cool down.

The Ultimate Group Ride (not included with FitPass)

Description:
This progressive six-week program utilizes heart rate training zones to increase maximal oxygen consumption (VO2 max) during bouts of indoor cycling.  This class combines intensity monitoring, cadence control and optimal class design to increase cardiovascular efficiency.  Increased cardiovascular efficiency means increased VO2 max, which means improved endurance outdoors.
