NEW Group Fitness Classes Offered in the Fall 2009

Zumba®
Try this Latin-inspired class fusing fast and slow rhythms to meet both cardiovascular and resistance training goals. Enjoy this fun, no pressure environment while the instructor teaches participants awe-inspiring Latin movements to energize body, mind and soul.

Ultimate Group Ride
This progressive six-week program utilizes heart rate training zones to increase maximal oxygen consumption (VO2 max) during bouts of indoor cycling. This class combines intensity monitoring, cadence control and optimal class design to increase cardiovascular efficiency. Increased cardiovascular efficiency means increased VO2 max, which means improved endurance outdoors.

Ultimate Group Ride meets three times a week for six weeks in the Minneapolis University Recreation Center’s spin studio. Intermediate and advanced cyclists or multi-sport athletes encouraged to attend. Maximum of twelve participants per session. Pre- and post-class VO2 max assessment and body composition with the Bod Pod® included. Personal heart rate monitors recommended, but not required. Separate registration and additional fee required. The Ultimate Group Ride registration fee does not include a FitPass.

The Department of Recreational Sports recommends obtaining a physician’s clearance prior to participating in any physical activity.
