Spouse / Domestic Partner*
Available Membership
Spouses and domestic partners of Department of Recreational Sports members are eligible for memberships. The individual directly affiliated with the University of Minnesota (staff member, student, etc.) acts as the sponsor to their spouse/domestic partner. Spouses and domestic partners are eligible to purchase the following memberships:
Spouses/Domestic Partners of Students, Faculty, Staff, Retirees and Affiliates*
- Semester: $135
Semester membership corresponds with the University academic calendar.
*110 for summer semester.
- Six Months: $190
Does not correspond with the University academic calendar; expires six months from join date.
- Annual: $355
Does not correspond with the University academic calendar; expires 12 months from join date.
- Payroll Deduction: additional $13.39 per pay period. This membership is only available only to spouses/domestic partners of faculty/staff members with payroll deduction.
*Please note that a spouse/domestic partner may not purchase a membership of a longer duration than the membership held by the sponsor. For example, a spouse/domestic partner of a University of Minnesota student will only be eligible for semester memberships.
Spouses/Domestic Partners of Alumni and U Associates
- Six Months: $235
Does not correspond with the University academic calendar; expires six months from join date.
- Annual: $400
Does not correspond with the University academic calendar; expires 12 months from join date.
*Domestic partner is defined by the University of Minnesota as a sole same-sex partner registered with the Student Insurance Office or Employee Benefits.
Frequently Asked Questions
- My spouse is an employee of the University of Minnesota, but is not a member of the Department of Recreational Sports. Am I still eligible for membership?
The employee must be a member of Rec Sports and act as your sponsor.
- Do you have any family memberships?
We do not offer family memberships at the Department of Recreational Sports. However, we do offer Family Day on Sundays from 12:00pm-5:00pm when members may bring their spouse and children at no charge. Domestic partners are required to provide proof of their partnership on Family Day.
