Our Dedication to the community
The Youth & Community Program is dedicated to social awareness and outreach, both on the University Campus, as well as in the community at large. Each year Youth Programs sets aside $10,000 as scholarship money to families who have financial need. We are also contributors to local charities and educational programs around the Twin Cities. Some of our contributions this year have gone to the Ronald McDonald House, Talmud Torah of St. Paul, Fraser, The Pacer Center, The University Pediatrics Foundation, as well as a number of local schools and pre-schools. In 2008, The Summer Youth Programs will be hosting several groups on campus for recreation & educational experiences. The Heart of the Earth Charter School will be coming to the Recreation Center to learn about higher education and the benefits of good nutrition and exercise. 26 youth from the Cedar Riverside Cooperative will join us in partnership with CLA and the Department of Art for a full week of art education and recreation. Youth Programs is also working with the Ronald McDonald house of the Twin Cities to offer scholarships to the siblings of youth being treated at the University. |
