Archery
Aim, shoot, BULLS-EYE! Learn discipline and marksmanship from the challenging sport of archery. Develop technique with a keen eye. As BWANA is a “game oriented” business, the youth may at times have the option of practicing their skills on artificial animals. Please speak to our child about this possibility. If your child is not comfortable targeting game animals, they will have the option of shooting at conventional targets and balloons. This program is offered in cooperation with BWANA Archery.

Ultimate Frisbee -New Class!
Combining the non-stop movement and athletic endurance of soccer with the aerial passing skills of football, a game of Ultimate is played by two seven-player squads with a high-tech plastic disc on a field similar to football. The object of the game is to score by catching a pass in the opponent’s end zone. There is a reason why hundreds of new people begin playing Ultimate each year. Ultimate is genuinely fun and exciting. The unique flying options of the disc mean that no two throws look alike and the options are limitless. Join us for the fun this summer!

Golf
Tee off this summer! See why so many Minnesotans love this sport. Acquire the basics of this challenging game. Make improvements from wood to iron to wedge to putter. Put your recently developed golf skills to use on a local nine-hole course at the end of the week. This class is best suited for the beginner. We do have golf clubs available for those who do not have, or not able to purchase their own. While we do have several sets of clubs available we highly recommend that each child bring the following clubs: 5 Iron, 7 Iron & a 9 Iron and a putter. Clubs should be brought with on their first day of camp. Parents should also keep in mind that this activity takes place outdoors. Clothing appropriate for the weather should be considered. This includes a cap, sunscreen, a water bottle, as well as a rain coat and/or a golf umbrella if it is raining. This program is offered in cooperation with the Les Bolstad University Golf Course.

Judo /Jujitsu for self-defense
The teaching of judo/jujitsu self defense gives youth valuable skills for today’s too frequently dangerous environment. Somewhere between the threat of abduction and the abundance of bullies, kids need something that will provide them with tools for reasonable resistance, restraint and response. Kids learn to avoid, escape, and fight off the most common forms of attack, from being grabbed to being hit. They also learn critical falling and “going to the ground” skills. The class addresses the serious nature of attack and defense; both psychologi-cally and physically. The former requires students to adopt a “mature” attitude about the reali-ties and responsibilities of defense. The physical aspects are sometimes “rough and tumble” and although not violent, they provide the student a realistic awareness of physical combat. We recommend that parents take this into consideration and discuss expectations prior to enrollment.

Lacrosse for kids!
Fun and camper safety are the top priorities for this introduction to the fast paced game of Lacrosse. Emphasis is place on team play and individual skill development. We will focus on throwing, catching, and cradling with both hands. Repetition will be stressed throughout the week to build muscle memory. Drills and positive practice will enable the camper to develop the fundamental skills needed to understand and play beginning Lacrosse. Instructor will monitor a controlled scrimmage near the end of practice to give players a chance to practice their new skills in a real game setting.
